2013 Fall Trip, Day Four: Driving to Rocky Mountain National Park

Day four mostly involved us driving to Rocky Mountain National Park and setting up camp before that evenings thunderstorms rolled in. Driving to RMNP was mostly uneventful. We saw one of the clearest streams I’ve ever seen loaded with dozens of trout (North Platte River), and giant hummingbird-like moths in Grand Lake, CO. We made arrangements for our upcoming backpacking hike, and had dinner at Sagebrush BBQ (highly recommended). After getting our site set up, he headed up to the Alpine visitors center to photograph lightning coming in.
